simko: Photograph of a friend’s Silly Bandz… The first time I saw Silly Bandz, it was because I witnessed a mother prying a pack out of her screaming child’s hand in a store. I asked the cashier what that was about and she shrugged, “Don’t ask me. I’m pretty sure they’re just an overpriced pack of colored rubber bands.” Since then, the craze has spread throughout the city. I see them everywhere - on children, teenagers and adults. They’re quickly becoming biggest hit since Beanie Babies. Thanks to the most recent ban, it seems that they’re also well on their way to becoming this generation’s (less violent) version of Slap Bracelets. Happy slingshotting collecting kiddies!  They are seriously everywhere.  A friend of mine was wearing one that was supposed to be a “rockstar”, except the outline of the guitar made the bracelet look more like a man with a huge phallus (which is why she wanted it, of course.)
